1st Executive Board in News
ASEAN Directors of National Library, Presidents and Secretaries-General of Library Association met at the 1st Meeting of CONSAL XV Executive Board in Savoy Homann Hotel, Bandung, West Java, Indonesia, 29-30 April 2010.
The delegates were the Executive Boards from 8 CONSAL member countries Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia. The meeting was chaired by the Secretary-General of CONSAL XV, Dady P. Rachmananta, assisted by acting Director of the National Library of Indonesia, Lilik Soelistyowati, President of Indonesia Library Association (IPI), Supriyanto, Vice President of IPI, Zulfikar Zen and Secretary-General of IPI, Bambang Supriyo Utomo.
Dady P. Rachmananta who conducted the meeting said that the outcome of the meeting would be followed up at the next meeting of CONSAL XV Executive Board in 2011. In line with that, the result of the next meeting will be the main agenda in the 15th Conference of CONSAL that is planned to be held in 2012 in Bali.
The meeting was opened by Lilik Soelistyowati and closed by Supriyanto. In the occasion, each delegate presented their proposals for upcoming CONSAL conference agenda in 2012.
After the meeting, the Executive Boards were hosted in a lunch party and entertained with an Angklung performance by Mang Udjo. The delegates were also invited to join interactively in an Angklung play. They played successfully several songs after given short instructions.
At the evening, the delegates were invited in a dinner gala hosted by the Vice Governor of West Java, Dede Yusuf, in Governor office, known as Gedung Sate (Sate Building). They were also entertained with Sundanese traditional dances. The Vice Governor in a welcome speech said that the government of West Java, especially the city of Bandung were very impressed with the meeting. It has pointed out that the province of West Java is ready for hosting an international event according to the historical first Asia Africa conference which was held also in Bandung.
The delegates also visited Merdeka Museum, the library of Bandung Institute of Technology and the National Library of Indonesia in Jakarta.
